I certainly remember the cobbled street...but, that was Hillkirk Place...across from the station...I can still remember the struggle my Mum had hauling my pram up that hill....perhaps, if' you'd take a few minutes to fill out your profile with a little more info... (if you want to) you may just get some responses. and who knows.. some here might just remember the lady armstrong...and you too geo1968, shepherd, some lovely old friends.

Of course it's Springvale Terrace... I only know that it led up to where it turned into Hillkirk Place...so, I just connected the two...I had a friend can't remember who or a name) that lived in those Brownstones at the top of the hill, I believe they had front gardens and the road became just a path.. in front..perhaps had a an alley in the back for closer access...to those driving? williedee.. and I lived in the same building..next door to the Church...and I remember looking out of the window...right down..Hillkirk Place and could see the/my.. Gospel Hall. Also had a wee girl friend at school who lived on the corner house overlooking Springvale Terrace..Springburn Road... over that street to the flower shop...and then across the street to the station...used to watch Andy Pandy on her TV after we walked home from nursery school together. Now lads and lassies.. considering I was jist 6 years alde when I left there...56 years ago (never to return) it's no awe that bad...when..I can clearly remember all the "places" "jist no the bl--d--g street names".. richt...? LOL... I actually have current photos taken by my sister Alison... of that area... and the streets aforementioned. ..it is like taking a wee trip or a wee keek... just like my dear friend Jean says..
NOW...I just wonder how old that "cobbled" street" might have been... as I don't recall many other cobbled ones...except perhaps near the BLOCKS (am I right? ) even way back then.... Hey... ! a new subject of conversation.... OK guys... I know some of you are Springburn Historians/experts... so, stir up.. those mighty.. memories..and facts...Please

Hey everybody from Springburn, can I recommend a sundrenched tour of the famous Rockery and the romantic bridge (still there), courtesy Harry Mc and serenaded by the wonderful voice of Wellfield.

Find it in the video section parts one and two and be prepared to be enchanted and drenched with pleasant memories.

Thanks Harry.

As a wee boy I attended Petershill School from 1945 - 1952 and was fortunate to have a wonderful teacher by the name of Miss McInnes. I will always remember her unique way of teaching us geography. She had a big flat map of the world hanging up next to the blackboard and all the kids would bring in empty food packets from home. We would peel off the labels, Tea from Ceylon, Cheese from Holland, coffee from Brazil etc. and we all took turns of matching the labels to the right countries on the map. Funny how things stick in your mind
