Springburn Photos 5
Feb 11 2008, 10:17 PM EST I was so chuffed to see a photograph of Petershill Road, as I used to live just opposite Petershill School. In another thread I had spoken of the shops I remember and was pleased to see that there is a sign for the cobblers shop which I remember well. The photos are fantastic! Bring back a lot of memories. 7 out of 7 found this valuable. Do you? |

Feb 12 2008, 9:06 AM EST I see that there are actually a few tenements still standing along Petershill Road, down near where the Petershill club was. The buildings all along the road where I used to live are all gone. When I first saw the spare ground, some years ago now, I couldn't believe that so many people had lived in what appeared to be a small area of land! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Feb 12 2008, 10:19 AM EST I was shocked on my last visit to Springburn it took me ages to find Petershill Road. The hose my Mother and Father had is still there. But the house I left 30 odd years ago in Laverockhall St is gone. My Brother and his family lived down your end I think it was number 18. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Apr 19 2008, 2:45 PM EDT Hi Wellfield that was a 650cc Thunderbird I dont think they had a 750cc in those days,I did ride the biikes a lot when I was young, but that bike in particular was a marvelous bike for its time,it did give me a great time when on the good old country roads in Scotland, but on the cobble stones, plus, the tram lines in Glasow that was a time to be careful,I found them awkward especially when wet .Did you have a bike Wellfield I am always ready for motor bike talk, thats a bug you never loose, but you can loose the ability to ride one,a guy down at the beach last year offered me a ride on a 250cc Honda I would have loved to have taken his offer, but I said no no,simply I already, ten years prior got on a friend of mines 500cc BSA gold star,I had always been confident on any bike, but it had all gone I felt like I was sitting on the back of a rodeo bull and I just had to get off and admit I had ,Had It. Apr 20 2008, 7:23 PM EDT Hi Wellfield I probably would have enjoyed the custom building of bikes, when I was a young man,I watch that O.C.C. orange county choppers show, thats upstate in New York I am sure you must have seen it on the tele, where the big guy with his sons and crew build the choppers, its quite popular, when I watch it ,I say to myself,I could have made this or I could have bent that, but I really know it takes a lot more talent than I had, at one time I stripped a 500cc BSA side valve ex army bike then assembled it and ended up with nuts, and bolts with no idea where they should have went,I will be looking out for your jaguar when you post it,I also watch the shows that do the custom car building, and watch the frustration,it would have been to mutch for me to handle. Parachute Ps I saw in one of your site answers you were in Palm Springs I spent a month there twenty years ago, thats is a facinating place.I still have great menories of good times there. 2 out of 2 found this valuable.
