View of cityscape behind sledgers (below) - could Springburn be "way off" to the right of this picture?

Some thoughts - It's great to see the efforts being made to pinpoint the location of the sledgers in this great photo. The last two taken looking down into Bishopbriggs. However, focusing on the background of the original photo, it shows heavy industry and a cityscape at the bottom of the hill. Assuming that this is actually Glasgow in the background, which I believe it is, then this suggests the photo was taken looking south-west from a high vantage point, rather than looking north-west (no city would be in the background). If the sledgers' photo was taken from a Springburn vantage point (highest location in Glasgow), then how can we see such dense structures to the right of the picture - which should be wide open countryside - if it was taken from near Springburn Park? Bishopbriggs would not show, and even if it did, it still has not that type of building density.
One of my two Springburn homes was at 77 Edgefauld Road, and we looked down on Glasgow from close to the supposed location of the sledgers' hill. The cityscape in the background is too close - I think. Is that Ruchill Hospital and Glasgow University in the cityscape foreground? If so, they seem nearer than they should be if the photo was taken from Springburn. Most of these sledgers are well-dressed adults, and very few children. Not typical dress of Springburnians in my time (1940's) or earlier. Just some thoughts....... |

I don't think that this photo was taken anywhere near Springburn as the hills in the picture are very close to the development and there is nowhere in Springburn that development is that close When was this pic taken and where did it come from? Oh! and where are the sledgers, I don't see any in the pic?
