hi folks its been a while since i've contributed anything to the site but if anyone has read my profile then they'll know that my hero was my dad .well on thursday 4th of june at 20.25 gmt my hero passed away .the old saying about the stages of your life in springburn didn't all come in to play but the last one certainly came true for my father .he was born in springburn went to petershill school.lived his life in petershill rd ,auchentaushen terrace ,muir street and the last 43 years in carron crescent.the last part of the old springburn tale is died at stobhill. (hope thats right all of a sudden it seems that might have been the start of the tale )any way does it really matter .for last the 26 years he struggled through life paralysed down the right side of his body with a stroke that affected his speech and in the later years of his life got worse through many small strokes that affected his speech even more .but in the last few years one thing that helped keep him going after the death of my mother in july 07 was the photos posted on this site and also the mitchell library site .he had me copying photos of petershill rd and other areas of old springburn ,so i'd just like to thank anyone who posted a picture on the site and to say you made an old man very happy in his last few years .finally i'd just like to say that he was springburn through and through .honest ,hard working ,trust worthy .loyal and generous and thoughtfull.and finally as i've said when its my time if i'm half the man he was then i'll know i've done well .if you've read this thank you . john william kyles mackay 24/07 /25- 04/06/09
