Foxy52; I know this is a helluva long shot, however,I'llgive it shot. I went with a girl named Babs McPhie who lived on the street behind the shops I think Jimmy Reid worked in the butcher's shop.I'm sure the shops were on Balornock Rd. Anyhoo,Babs went to live in Detroit in the 50's and we haven't seen each other since. I believe she lived in Highland Park and her hubby was some kind of boss at Chrysler.I don't know the married name.It would be so nice to know if she is still with us.I don't expect a miracle but I'm do believe in fate. That's all the info I have on Babs. I've been in Detroit many times over the years and never thought to look up this old friend. By the way, what is your handicap? I'm the marshal at my club....I used to play off 4...more like 14 these days. Keep well Eddie and get back on your feet soon. If you feel up to it,e-mail me a wee note. Adam

The truth is Jean,I've been going back there for the past 40 odd years, and drank in these pubs as a tourist, every second or third year I'd see the devastation going on and naturally thought that the outcome would weigh the odds, but that wasn't the case, and I think a lot of the residents thought they would be re-paid by the building of a new model part of the city, being as Springburns industries in the past were a bank book for the Corporation as such, but all they got was barren land and a big dirty highway, leading out of town.

"corner of Flemington street/ Keppochill Road I think Bunty...i dont think it was as far along as Petershill Road. Remind me somebody?"Yes, your right about the location Steve. I am informed by my dad that prior to being owned by a guy called Charlie Smith it was called Murray's and run by a Mrs Murray. I think the pub Buntygal is thinking of is either Clarks (corner of Petershill Rd and Springburn Rd). There was also Sherrys (a mans pub) at the corner of Aunchentoshan Terr and Springburn Road.
