I DON'T REMEMBER ST. KEVIN'S SCHOOL IN CARLESTON ST., AS BEING FOR THE MENTALLY HANDICAPPED AS I WAS THERE UNTIL 1967 AND IT WAS ST. ALOYSIUS (BIG SCHOOL) -AS OPPOSED TO THE ANNEXE IN ELVALE STREET.

"I think eventually it was decided Ann that we all knew it as St.Aloysius in the 5O s . Many of my friends that i played with in Kay Street attended St.Aloysius.....Regarding the Mentally handicapped children, we also had classes of the "Special Children"" as we were told to call them.. in Elmvale Primary, Im sure somefolks on the site will remember them being there." Yes Jean I remember the 'special' kids and I thought there were kids from Kay Street went to St. Aloysius. My daughter now teaches these special kids although nowadays they are called special needs.
