Remember the meetings and Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam. and Tinnies same as the Church Picnics. I remember Mr Baker. he was a Capt., I think, and our Insurance man. Visited our house often . He wrote me a lovely letter of recommendation when I immigrated. Lovely Copperplate Writing My father used to give him a 20 packet of Players or Capstan. They had a very good brass band.

I too remember the Church Picnics and the Tinnies as we would all march down to Springburn station to board a train to our destination. I was a Sunbeam then it became the Brownies and I was one of the teenage helpers (chosen name of Squirrel). My brother was in the youth band. There was a lovely couple named Armstrong who run a lot of the youth meetings. Great memories of the Salvation Army which was right across the street from us in Wellfield St.
