Hi steve another great collection of memories for the gang, the BB parade for the springburn district I was there I'm the wee ginger headed lad half way up the avenue right in the middle lol. Springburn Museum used to have a video of that parade.Great memory of the salt waste mountain and the sinky ocean as we called it , with pinkston power station that used to supply power for the trams. There I'm started already sounds like the cue for another section in down memory lane. Keep them coming we can't get enough. This site really be a great archive of springburn.

I was so chuffed to see a photograph of Petershill Road, as I used to live just opposite Petershill School. In another thread I had spoken of the shops I remember and was pleased to see that there is a sign for the cobblers shop which I remember well. The photos are fantastic! Bring back a lot of memories.

The picture of the B.B. in Northcroft Road and Calderwoods Dairy brought back memories of sitting at my Granny's window in her house, the close faced down Northcroft Road from Edgefauld Road, watching all the drunks trying to get up the hill on a Friday night!! It was as well there were iron railings on the buildings or they would never have made it!! I used like going my Granny's messages to the Cooperative grocers shop that was just along Edgefauld Road, with her divvy book, and the big slabs of butter at the back of the counter. I think I am right in thinking there was a butchers and a fish & chip shop as well. Great days.
