My family go back to 1881 starting from 35 Balgrayhill, Paterson, Orr, Stevenson, McLellan, McDonald, Scott we lived in 147 wellfield street in 1953 to 1971.
the rest of the family were in Vulcan Street, Croftbank St, Springburn Rd, Young Terrace. My father was born in 21 Balgrayhill in 1920 his name was Joseph Stevenson, 3 brothers, Alec, Jimmy and Davie and a sister called Phamie (Euphemia). I have for the last few years been researching my family tree, have more birth, marriage and death certificates than anyone else. I was married in Wellfield church in 1971. My 1st house was in 802 Springburn Rd where my oldest daughter sharon was born. have millions of stories to tell you about springburn, and Im so glad i found a site that I can relate to, so will post stories as time goes on but so many to tell. |

I am a bit of a fraud really, I'm not from Springburn but my Dad was. I have been digging in to his family tree and found the old photos fantastic. I was at Sighthill Cemetery last Tuesday following up a vague lead about my his Grandfather and could not believe it when I found the memorial he had put up for the four sons that predeceased him, not bad for a random wander around 46 acres! One of the old photos shows the memorial, it's near the Keppochhill Road entrance, if anyone has any other old pictures it would be great to see them, the top has been knocked off and I'd like to try and see what it looked like originally. Dad lived at 27 Laverockhall Street and went to Petershill School, again any pictures would be great.
