Hazy about the girls although I did fancy one or two.

Front row from left Tommy Watt, Jim Mitchell, Kenny Platt, Jack Bookless.

It would be great if some of those faces could join in.

My close pals right through to adult life were Jim Mitchell, George Tosh and Robert McEnneny.Sad to say that Jim Mitchell passed away in 1978 and George Tosh only last year.
Robert McEnney emigrated to Australia in the 60's and I lost touch.

(thanks to arm 139 for update)
This is a quite wonderful and rare picture. In the back ground are the sheds and the building known as 'the wee side' where all the first primary classes were held. The playground at this part of the school was huge and most sports were played on it. The massive building behind the team backed on to Crichton Street and was separated by along wall. I suspect this is the only picture surviving of this long demolished half of Gourlay Street primaryand I never thought I would ever see it again. Brilliant and thanks for posting. Steve.

*On reflection, the year is more likely to be 1970, as I recall having the blue jumper during the world cup
of that year, although both Janet Blaney and Rhona Anderson, who were part of this group, are not featured.
It is certainly not 1972 as the picture is missing Marian Baird,Robert Burns, David McCartney,
Robert Faulds,Margo Morrison,William 'Bud' McCarthur and Alan McCrae, all of whom were
part of the group when we left in June of that year. Steve

Picture posted by Angela Ross. These two classes were sometimes mixed, perhaps due to teacher shortages. I can recall Miss Marshall staying for longer than originally planned with our class, although after 1972 she seems to disappear from the Gourlay Street Primary radar. Please contact us if can fill in any missing blanks or supply additional information about these pictures. If you know anyone in them, ask them to contact the site.

We are anxious to add as many as possible to the two colour photos covering these years, 1970-2 as we are looking at a possible reunion perhaps next year, if enough people are interested. If anyone can add names or recognises themselves, please contact us or write your name here.
Remember, that unless names can be added , and this applies to all schools the chances are that the official registers are long binned, as each school had the power themselves to keep or destroy them. which most of them appear to have done. If the school has gone the registers are virtually certain to be gone forever. As is typical with so much Scottish history in the 60s and 70s, nobody bothered archiving anything, so it is up to us to fill in the blanks where we can.
Cheers Steve.

Hi there I was just looking through these photo's and the 2 between 1970/72 I would have thought I should be in. My 1st School was Gourlay St Primary, I was known then as Ann Clark ( Clark ) being my Stepfathers name. My Mother said she doesn't think she has any old School photo's of me which saddens me a little as its very hard to trace my roots without pictures for some of the stuff I need. I can't remember any of my teachers names or the Boys & Girls in my class. * Its that memeory thing * Comes to us all when we get to a certain age, think its it me sooner rather than later. Lol Joking aside though I would really love to hear from anyone who may remember me or if they have any school photo's with me in them. I will however try to gather what my mum does have and post them on here as Im still trying to work out how to use this site. Can anyone tell me are these 2 photo's of Primary 1 and 2? Also I lived in Gourlay Street and almost certain the number was 148. I do however remember me and my friends has a gang hut we built round the cornor by the old I think it was a power station or something, and we used to get scared of the man who worked there whom I assume was the watchman. I also remember the little girl that went missing and all the parents out looking for her. I remember an old man's flat on fire and when they started to demolish the flats up the street. Our flat was at the top above victoria wines. Please if anyone can add to my story or whom may know me please get in touch. Thank you Ann x
