as a kid i loved to go to petershill park, rain shine,or snow.i loved the maroon and white strip.on home games i remember getting lifted over the turnstiles, and the older men would let us stand down front. To the left of the stands and out on the track would be wheelchair bound war veterans, and the st. johns ambulance men would walk around the track at half-time with a stretched out white sheet to collect odd change, pennies and the likes.i also remember at half-time,standing in line for bovril, pies and sausage rolls they were a real treat.i watched them all through the 50s.i can still remember the teams players names,stewart,mc.nellis,mc.nab,hamilton,shaw,murray,dolan,white,bishop,mc.clean.clark.After the game,i would go up to my Uncle Tommys at 111 Petershill rd. and bum the bus fare back to Balornock, being as i had spent my pocket money on ginger and sweeties.Great memories.I like this site, what with old photographs and all,i knew most of the pictures, brick by brick, thanks again.
