The above photo c 1957/58 contains two very famous springburnonians, namely Ron Garrick who later became "sir" Ron Garrick and Alan Ross who played in goal for Carlisle United and was on the verge of the Scottish team. Sadly,Alan is no longer with us.

This picture shows the band of the 185th Glasgow Company of the Boys' Brigade marching along Springburn Road at the junction of Elmvale Street. Part of Springburn North Church can be seen on the left.
The Boys' Brigade was founded in 1883 by William Smith in Glasgow and was the first uniformed youth organisation in the world, based on army-style discipline.
Other Springburn Boys' Brigade companies were the 25th (Cowlairs Parish), 40th (Springburn Hill), 115th (Wellfield Church), 148th (Sighthill), 181st (St Rollox), 188th (Johnston Memorial), 200th (Colston Wellpark), 202nd (Springburn Baptist), 238th (Sommerville Memorial) and 276th (Ferguson Memorial).

In the early 70s I recall the following officers:
Mr Black Mr Thompson Mr Jamieson Mr Agnew Miss Waterson
(Later married Mr Black) Minister in Cowlairs church at the time was Mr Heathwood.
I think he passed away around 1972. If you have any other information please add/amend.

Hi: I have posted some of my father's (George Strang) BB photos. He was an officer in the 148 and I believe the 25th. He often spoke of the pantomines he helped organise but I don't have any photos of these. I hope others can help recognise dates (? late 1940s/1950s) and people. In the first photograph my father is the second from the right. Regards Ronnie
