Hello there from me to all of you good people out there,I feel lost in this place so much stuff in it ,all I wanted was to blether & chat perhaps to other springburn folks about springburn & the good old days of the hot summery 70s etc.
My life was spent in galloway street from when my parents [Big to some]Jock & [wee] Maggie Scott brought me home from stobhill hospital in the 60s right up untill I was married in the 80sthereafter i moved on to our 1st home together on Alexandra parade, got pregnant so then onto Cumbernauld to raise the kids eventualy ending up here in Australias Queensland Gold Coast.
I have been home to visit 3 times thus far & shall return next year also to pay a fond visit to my family & old hometown. I was interested in chatting to anyone from Galloway street or whomever lived nearby or went to the schools i went to in springburn ,Elmvale Primary school & colston secondary school[I believe that my primary school still stands & is used however my high schools well & truly gone & is now houses].
I remember many a hot summer in springburn Park & taking our jammy pieces up in a bread poke & supping cold water from a washed out glass milk bottle full of water which we then filled with minnows from the parks boat pond such great wee memorys of the bonnie dear place called springburn[springy to me for short,] Would love to hear from fellow springburnians regarding their springy upbringing & how much of a good thing we truly had by simply being in springburn despite whatever other stuff that often went on over some of our heads our good old parents kept us oftentimes oblivious to it all.
I found it to be an exciting place full of adventures happy & some of them scary too,I have always been thankful for my Springburn upbringing which equipped me well for the life ahead of me so I have no regrets of living there nor leaving there either the timing was perfect for me,.What say you others re Springy? come on in & say hello whats your story ? share memorys with me & I shall share my own.regards lindascott-mac

"I did go to the Princes Cinema now and again, just for a change, but mostly I went to the Kinema as it was at the end of my street (or close by) Adamswell Street. Can't remember coming home with Fleas Sheina!! but I do remember once when I had a jacket with a hood on it, I came home with lots of cigarette butts and papers from lollies inside the hood...some nice people at the back of me decided to use it as a rubbish bin. Lucky too that it wasn't cold or I could have put the hood over my head....that would have been a fine mess eh! hmmm!"
OMG some people are awful & do terrible things to get a joke that was a horrible experience Wilma pal,ah promise al never hide anything in yer hat here hen Lottsa huggs from Linda xxx
