Reason for interest in site, need to keep alive the real Springburn of my chilhood and teenage years and early adulthood. In those days you were proud to say you came from Springburn. The Springburn of those days supplied the British Empire with locomotives and its schools produced doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers, engineers in droves,what a place. Springburn was a comfortable high end working class area where being a tradesman was the norm and you didnt need to go to town to get good shops. I arrived in springburn aged 1 lived in 28 adamswell st from 1937-1950 moved to eastfield dormitories beside eastfield sheds was there from 1950-1956. Moved from there to the blocks 7 elmvale row west 1956-1960 was called up to RAF ns 1960-1962.On return to civvy st lived in maryhill 26 dalmally st, moved back to springburn to laverockhall st 1963-1973, then moved to Lenzie 1973 and am still there. Both my children were born in springburn and are now both married and living in Lenzie. I have worked in the shipyards, machine tool manufacture, self employed for many years working in nuclear industry,oil field development on and off shore. Worked in holland,spain,belgium,england and generally kept employed. Now retired and enjoying this site and its members memories.
