Hi I am Fiona Purdon.... ( Nee Taylor ) I lived at 54 Galloway street and went to Elmvale Primary and Alberts.s........would love to hear from any of my chldhood friends. and neighbours....I married Billy Purdon , from the blocks , in 1967 before moving to the lovely Kingdom of Fife...... ( Billy passed away three years ago ... we were married for 38 yrs at that point ... he was the wind beneath my wings and my soul was/is mutilated by his loss...... one of the good guys ... would love to chat to anyone who knew him )... I have managed to contact five folks so far , through F.R.U., we certainly manage to jog each others memories ... one in Australia ... Mary Mckenzie , and Cathie and Sid johnstone.... both in Canada.... ..... also Jean Wallace ( jeanmcrae on this site)we all agree that those childhood experiences of growing up in Springburn were the building blocks that made us who we are today !!! After coming to Fife in 1972 , I returned to Education , gaining an M.A , from Edinburgh University , followed by a Post Grad Diploma in Community Education . Spent my professional Life working with Homeless Youngsters and those with Drug related issues., becoming Director of a large Y.M.C.A and raising funding for Homeless Units and a Drug EducationAgency . I was also a Local Councillor for 12 years , just an extension of the community work really .
