Born 26th April 1936 Current residence: Livingston, West Lothian Scotland.
About me? Well, some of my best years were spend in Springburn where my parents initially lived with my grandpa in Vulcan Street beside Hydepark Locomotive Works where he worked right up until he was seventy-nine as a boiler man on the premise, if he were not there, the place would not function. Attended Hydepark school, went to live in Abbotsford Place, returned to Blenheim Street and then Barclay Street from where I attended Albert Senior Secondary school round about 1951. Left in third year (Class 3MG) to go into the theatre, then eventually became a journalist and finally moved out to the country. Am owned by two cats, now retired, still write freelance stuff for The Scotsman, refuse to give in to tempus fugiting and bless L'Oreal every day for changing my grey hair to russet auburn and Estee Lauder for concealing any wrinkles that might dare appear! Don't dare mention the word "Diet". Failed all my driving tests, as well! Think Pierce Brosnan much better than that new Craig fellow and if you want to leave me a compliment, as it suggests elsewhere, well, that could be your challenge for the day! I have this recurring wish that someday, someone from my old class of '51, 3MG, might surface on this site unless nobody of my vintage actually owns a computer! Am presently organising a fashion show together with a short play called "Supermarket saga" based on a stint I did as a demonstrator at Asda. The Scottish branch of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will benefit from the ticket sales and it all happens on Tuesday 27 October this year at the Howden Park Centre in Livingston. There are a few walk on parts left to fill in the play which require more mature people. So if you are free and you live in the Livingston area, you would be very welcome to pm me. End of commercial.

I to lived in Vulcan Street #6 top floor born 1940 left 1956, moved to Cumbernauld Road just of Alexander Parade. Perhaps you may recall my older brothers and sisters, as I was the youngest of Nine kids. I remember all the trains coming up the street and watched from the bedroom window wondering if they would take the gents toilet and fountain with them. I went home in 2004 and was totally horrified at what the City had done to Springburn, no more Vulcan Street, very few land marks I remembered I have often wondered what happened to all the kids I used to play with after school. Most of us went to Hyde Park then on to Colston . There are so many memories of a very good happy childhood. Wish I had kept in touch with kid I new at school and in Vulcan Street. One day I hope to read that some one from my time will write in this link. I found this such a fantastic link. Will keep checking this sight for more info on Springburn and all the folk who lived there. So different from Texas. T.T.F.N. Helen Lamb (Shields) from

Jumpen on the lawre's hanging on the back.Going to the Cinama I think that was the pictures name. Playing in the graveyard. Going to the Band of Hope back of Sighthill Church We lived back of church. I use to clime on the roof. Also I remember in school they called it stain fights with the papes. So long ago.Things today are so better in many ways. But not in others. Mybe just getting old. Hello Beryl and Davey - what wonderful times we had back then - no child safety experts then to ruin the fun - just a creative mind and your mates to make things up!! I remember playing cowboys and indians up in Paddy's Park and also playing war games in the bomb shelters after school (Hyde Park). In the summer endless days playing football at the steps to Adamswell Street with anything that could pass as a ball, chases, hyde & seek until getting called in at 10:00pm and reluctantly going up the close at 26 Valleyfield Street - gosh it all really does make the memories flow back.
