My mother worked as an assistant in the McNees on Springburn Rd in the mid 70s, I remember she took me in once and went into the bck-shop to talk to her colleagues. Being only 4 or so, I forgot where she went and ran out the shop back along to Mollinsburn St looking for her - I thought she'd left without me. I also think McNees was the shop I accidentally knocked over the long pole with a hoko they used to pull down the shutters, almost hitting an old woman.

Hi Anne I have gone through most of the photos on the site and the nearest i came to your mum and dads shop was on springburn photos 6 there is a photo of aa bus coming out of millerbank stret into keppochill road ,there is a hairdressers on the corner it wasmcloeds i think then there is a mna just exitinfg the photo on the right hand edge just out of shot was where the shop was another half inch and you could have seen it. My memories of the shop start around 1948 just after the war until about 1960 .I remeber the man and his daughter both had black hair ,I used to get my fathers cigarettes from there as well as ice cream. Idont know if this will fit into the time when your mum and dad ran the shop, I know that the man and his daughter were always very helpful and friendly and the ice cream was delicious. JIM
